The Launch of IJMet Online! - 13 August 2010

For several years, the IJMet has been determined to become available to the online community. Finally, and with massive thanks to Cloudware Hosting Ltd we finally breakthrough! The beauty of IJMet Online is that we can deliver 12 issues to all subscribers (print at the moment remains at 10 issues per year) and we can produce in full colour - something we have desperately wanted to do for decades. From months of hard work we finally have all of 2010's 35th anniversary issues online ready for people to view and download and from today any future Journals will be added to the Online site on completion. We are not at all saying goodbye to print, and will continue to issue printed hard copies of the Journal for as long as people want. However, IJMet Online is the next, most wonderfully exciting chapter in the truly remarkable life of The International Journal of Meteorology and will hopefully spark further interest abroad and make our pioneering research visible to the wider online community. Archived Journals will be added as and when we can and separate individual articles will also be available as a separate subscription - but these articles will mean the enthusiastic amateur who perhaps is only interested in Thunderstorm and or Tornado reports can view and download the content you want to read! If you have any suggestions for further products you would like to subscribe to from IJMet Online, contact us!

To think that this launch has happened in our anniversary year is truly something to celebrate. Huge thanks to Keith (the editor's brother) and to Cloudware Hosting!

New Annual Review Writer - Hurricanes and Tropical Storms - 23 April 2009

We are extremely proud and excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Kieran Hickey to the team. For too long now, we have not had enough reports written on the hurricanes and tropical storms that bear down on the USA and surrounding countries each year. Finally we have an expert in the field who has very kindly taken on the role to write an annual review on each year's hurricane season. Dr. Hickey lectures a great deal on severe storms and has written several items on hurricanes and tropical storms for over 15 years. We are truly privileged to have him aboard and wish to thank him for his support and generosity in this position. Look out for his reviews annually from this year.

Matt Clark is Promoted to Editorial Assistant - March 2009

After Laura's departure from the Journal, one person already on the team stood out as the perfect person to take over her position and lucky for us, he accepted! Matt has been a true asset to the Journal undertaking far many more tasks than simply just Feature Writing and I am truly delighted he accepted the role. He will continue to Feature Write as well and he also is working hard writing or helping to write up peoples' site investigations to ensure these invaluable reports get published.

Laura Gilchrist Resigns - February 2009

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to our wonderful Editorial Assistant, Laura. She has recently started working at Meteogroup, UK and has many other meteorologically related roles within TORRO. Laura has been with the IJMet for many years and played an integral role in making it international when she was involved in the photography side of production. We wish her well for the future and we thank her for all her efforts and time spent with the Journal and for her continued, loyal support.

Paul Knightley Joins the International Editorial Board team - January 2009

We are extremely honoured and delighted to welcome Paul (of Meteogroup, UK) to the Editorial Board. Paul is TORRO's Director of the Severe Weather Forecasts Division and has reviewed severe weather papers for many years and has written several contributions too alongside his completely devoted loyalty and support for the Journal for several years. Paul deserves to be recognised for the support and help he gives to ensuring papers are published to the highest standard via peer review and we welcome him to the team with sincere thanks. Paul also helps out with new features in the Journal - MetPix and Met Tutorial bringing the IJMet to a brand new level that can be enjoyed by every single person from the enthusiastic amateur and learner to the academic Professor. A huge thanks to Paul for all he does to support this non-profit periodical.

A keen storm chaser, writer and severe weather enthusiast, James has joined the team to write news features on severe weather for our ever more busy website. Thanks to everyone who visits the site regularly we have a good reason now to include interesting feature articles just for the website - real up-to-date news articles which could go on to being a paper in the printed journal!
